Paul Freston

My current work includes being principal investigator on a large collaborative research project on Pentecostal forms of Christianity in Brazil and their relationship to politics, to transnational expansion, and to inter-religious relations. I also work as co-editor of a forthcoming Cambridge History of Religion in Latin America, and as researcher on two new international research projects: on religion and human rights in Latin America; and on religious persecution worldwide.

I supervise master’s and doctoral students on topics connected with the sociology of religion, on religion and politics, on Latin America, and on aspects of international affairs.
