Here are just a few of our students’ favourite ways to apply their learning in the real world throughout their degree:
Laurier's Bachelor of Education program is only open to applicants who have already completed a qualifying undergraduate degree. But if you're wrapping up grade 12 now (or maybe you finished a few years ago!), we have several undergraduate pathway programs that can help you check off that prerequisite degree and start preparing to be an outstanding teacher right from year one.
If you maintain your GPA up and meet all the progression requirements, you'll have a spot when it comes time to apply to Laurier’s competitive Bachelor of Education program.
Laurier’s Undergraduate Teaching Option consists of 4.0 credits throughout your degree: five core half-credit courses offered through the Faculty of Education, plus three elective half-credit courses from an approved list. The option is designed to provide students with a foundational course of study focusing on teaching.
While you can add a Teaching Option to most programs in your upper years, a subset of programs on both our Waterloo and Brantford campuses are eligible for a direct application BEd pathway (look for the 'with Teaching Option' designation on Laurier's OUAC program listings).
The Teaching Option direct entry pathway is competitive. Only students applying for an honours degree with Teaching Option will be considered for admission directly into the B.Ed. program.

The BEd is a postgraduate bachelor’s degree program that requires an undergraduate degree.
You must meet additional program-specific admission requirements, as well as submit the required documents.
Once you apply, you’ll receive a confirmation email containing information about your applicant portal account. The portal is our primary point of contact with you. Use the portal to view your list of required documents to complete your application.
If you apply to both the Primary/Junior and Junior/Intermediate programs, you will receive an admissions decision on each application. If you apply to more than one teachable (Junior/Intermediate), you will only receive an admission decision on one of your teachable choices. You will need to rank them in your order of preference.
Feb. 1, 2025 will be the earliest date to receive an offer of admission. Log into your portal account to view the decision made on your Bachelor of Education application. Laurier does not mail offers of admission. You will be able to access your offer of admission letter in your portal account. If you receive an offer of admission, your offer letter will indicate:
Once you apply and have received your welcome email from our Admissions team, we recommend that you check your applicant portal account frequently to verify that we have received your documents or to view a list of outstanding documents.
Note: We will not consider incomplete or late applications.
