In October 2020, the Office of the Associate Vice-President: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) launched a consultative process to develop Laurier’s first Strategic Plan for EDI with the assembly of a strategic planning committee. The development of this plan was a key element in Laurier’s Action Plan for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Indigeneity.

Over the next year-and-a-half, hundreds of community members (students, faculty, contract teaching faculty, staff, and alumni) shared their experiences and insights through surveys, consultations, and meetings. This input guided the steering committee in the development of the strategic plan’s 37 recommendations for the university.

The Strategic Plan for EDI was unanimously approved by the university Senate and Board of Governors in the fall of 2022. Download the full EDI Strategic Plan as a PDF.

This plan charts a path for how Laurier can build a more equitable and inclusive community, an aspiration set out in the Laurier Strategy 2019-2024
