Dedicated Indigenous Student Recruiter

We understand the unique challenges Indigenous applicants may face when applying to post-secondary. Our Indigenous Student Recruitment and Access Coordinator role provides prospective students 1:1 support for things like their OUAC application, as well as attending to specialized inquiries. Laurier's Indigenous Admission Policy

Indigenous applicants are able to apply for admission under Laurier’s Indigenous Admissions Policy. Eligible applicants will be given consideration for admission to Laurier programs if they fall within 5% of the established cut-off during each phase of the admissions cycle to a minimum of 70%. If you are eligible for this policy, the Indigenous Recruitment and Access Coordinator will reach out to you. If you have any questions about the Indigenous Admissions policy, please contact the coordinator at IndigenousAccess@wlu.ca.

Third Party Sponsorship

If you are expecting to receive funding from a First Nations band or Indigenous organization, we invite you to read through and understand our Third-Party Sponsorship process.

Once you have accepted your offer to Laurier, any questions or concerns about sponsorship can be directed to your respective campus’ Indigenous Student Support Coordinators.

Six Nations Polytechnic

Successful completion of the community-based, University Consortium 1 Year program at Six Nations Polytechnic provides the foundation for students to be eligible for admission into the second year of Laurier's general Bachelor of Arts degree programs (Waterloo or Brantford campus).

Our partnership offers students the opportunity to complete the first year of a Bachelor of Arts degree within the Six Nations community. Courses taken during the Consortium program at Six Nations Polytechnic are eligible for transfer credits towards a Laurier degree.

To take part in this partnership, you must have a minimum average of 60% to qualify for transfer to Laurier. If you are interested in programs not listed below, please email indigenousaccess@wlu.ca to discuss timelines and eligibility.

Jay Treaty

Wilfrid Laurier University honours the Jay Treaty 1794 by offering Native American students from the continental United States domestic tuition rates. To qualify, students must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate program at Laurier and have validated their Indigenous identity with the Office of Indigenous Initiatives through the Indigenous Identity Verification Process.

Once confirmed, students will be eligible for domestic tuition pricing for the entirety of their studies at Laurier. The application of domestic rates will begin as of the term when the validation by the Office of Indigenous Initiatives takes place.

For more information on this process, please connect with the Office of Indigenous Initiatives at Indigenous@wlu.ca
