At Laurier, we know there’s a lot to consider when calculating the cost of your education, so we’ve increased our financial support for transfer students through a variety of different programs. Be sure to regularly check out our scholarships and bursaries for a current list of available opportunities. And don’t forget to check our important dates to find out when applications for awards, scholarships and bursaries open and close.

Note: Entrance scholarships are only available to students who are starting their degree at Laurier with fewer than 4.0 university credits previously attempted (at any university) or less than 1 year of full-time college education. However, if you have more than this allotted number of completed credits, you may still be eligible for in-course scholarships (see below).

In-Course Scholarships

In-course scholarships provide financial support based on your GPA (from Laurier courses) and are available to all full-time undergraduate students. You will automatically be considered for in-course scholarships upon completion of your first year at Laurier (and in subsequent years).

Competitive Scholarships and Awards

Laurier offers a large number of competitive scholarships and awards that are granted based on a range of criteria, such as academic achievement, co-curricular activities or volunteer work. We also offer donor-supported bursaries, which are based solely on financial need.

You can apply online for a variety of scholarships and awards by filling out a student profile. The student profile is a universal application that allows us to determine if you are eligible for a competitive scholarship, award or donor-supported bursary. You only need to fill out one student profile to be considered for a variety of awards opportunities.

OSAP

The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) helps qualified students pay for their schooling with grants, which do not need to be paid back, and loans, which are interest-free while you are an OSAP full-time student (which means 60% or more course load each semester; or 40% or more for students with a disability). You can apply and complete your application to see what you are eligible to receive for your study year.

Laurier Tuition Bursary

The tuition bursary aims to provide you with maximum funds available to assist with your tuition each study year. Students who have completed an OSAP application or out-of-province student loans and grants with a minimum cumulative GPA of 4.0 can submit an application to be considered for this bursary. Your application is assessed based on your income and expenses for the applicable study period, and you may be eligible for a bursary even if you do not receive OSAP funding.

Working at Laurier

At Laurier, there are several options to earn money while you learn. Our work-study program provides students in financial need with part-time employment opportunities on campus. In addition, Laurier hires hundreds of students for on-campus positions in virtually every department across campus.

Priya Thasan

“I love that my program offers direct entry and has small class sizes where the professors really want us to succeed. There are so many great ways to get involved and feel connected on a smaller campus like Laurier Brantford, and the whole school has adapted really well to the remote learning environment brought on by COVID-19.”
