Pathways to Indigenous Studies (BA) at Laurier

We have lots of college partnerships in place that open the door to you broadening your educational experience and completing your Indigenous Studies (BA in Combination) degree in less time. Throughout your Indigenous Studies degree, you will take courses in topics such as Indigenous perspectives on globalization, the people of the Longhouse, Indigenous pedagogy and Indigenous research methodologies.

Once you have accepted your offer, please consult Academic Advising and our Course Registration Guide to determine where you are with your program requirements, the specific courses you'll need to complete and the length of your academic journey at Laurier.

Indigenous Specializations (Lambton and Mohawk College)

Students who have completed Lambton College's Liberal Studies Diploma with an Indigenous Studies specialization, or Mohawk College's General Arts and Science (University Transfer) Diploma with an Indigenous Specialization, may be eligible for admission into the Honours Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Indigenous Studies program at Laurier's Brantford campus via this 2+2 agreement

Note: Participants in this 2+2 agreement will not participate in the Indigenous Studies "in combination" program – only the independent Indigenous Studies program.

  • Required final average from Lambton College’s Liberal Studies Diploma with Indigenous Specialization, or Mohawk College’s General Arts & Science Diploma with Indigenous Specialization: 75%
  • Other admission requirements: 60%+ in a 4U English (or equivalent) & proof of graduation
  • Number of transfer credits granted: 10.0
  • Number of Laurier credits required to graduate: 10.0

  • SCU 2303: Indigenous Connections to the Land
  • SCU 2003: Indigenous Wholistic Practices
  • SCU 1803: The Impacts of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission
  • SCU 2203: First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Perspectives 

Mohawk College 

  • INDS 10030: First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Perspectives
  • INDS 10031: The Impacts of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission
  • INDS 10032: Indigenous Peoples – Evolving Media and Artistic Images
  • INDS 10034: Indigenous Wholistic Practices
  • INDS 10035: Indigenous Connections to the Land

2 or 3 Year College Diplomas

Students who have successfully completed a 2 or 3 year college diploma may be eligible for admission into the Indigenous Studies (BA in Combination) program at Laurier's Brantford campus via this block transfer agreement.

  • Required final average from an approved program: 75%+   
  • Other admission requirements: 60%+ in a 4U English (or equivalent) & proof of graduation
  • Number of transfer credits granted: 6.0 (2-year diploma) OR 7.5 (3-year diploma)*
  • Number of Laurier credits required to graduate: 12.5 to 14.0 

*Please note, your exact transfer credits will be determined based on your unique academic journey and outlined in a transfer credit assessment as part of your offer package.
