Pathways to Social Work (BSW) at Laurier
Throughout your Social Work degree, you will take courses in topics such as social policy, human behaviour, Indigenous perspectives on family and reconciliation, and critical issues in individual, group and family social work contexts, in addition to extensive practical field experience.

Social Service Worker Pathway
Students who have successfully completed an approved Social Service Worker (SSW) diploma program may be eligible for admission into the Social Work (BSW) program at Laurier's Brantford campus via this 2+2 agreement.
- Required final average from this diploma program: 78%+
- This is a competitive entry program and a higher overall average for admission may be required.
- Other admission requirements: 60%+ in a 4U English (or equivalent) & proof of graduation
- Number of transfer credits granted: 10.0
- Number of Laurier credits required to graduate: 10.0
Students applying to this program from another post-secondary institution are encouraged to review our transfer-specific requirements. This page will show you the admission requirements for your unique transfer situation and provide more details about transferring to Laurier.
If you're transferring from Social Service Worker or Child and Youth Care to Social Work diploma programs and wish to complete the Teaching Option, be aware that you'll need to take extra courses, which may lengthen the time needed to complete the BSW program.

Students who have successfully completed an approved Child and Youth Care (CYC) diploma program may be eligible for admission into the Social Work (BSW) program at Laurier's Brantford campus via this block transfer pathway agreement.
- Required final average from this diploma program: 78%+
- This is a competitive-entry program and a higher overall average for admission may be required.
- Other admission requirements: 60%+ in a 4U English (or equivalent) & proof of graduation
- Number of transfer credits granted: 9.5
- Number of Laurier credits required to graduate: 10.5
